AB 142 for Moke study passes the Assembly
Initially opposed by Foothill Conservancy, Friends of the River and other environmental groups, AB 142 was amended to provide protection against new dams or diversions on the Mokelumne River that could harm the free-flowing condition and natural character of the river upstream of Pardee Dam. Those protections apply during the study period and continue through implementation of any Wild and Scenic designation recommendations resulting from the study. Foothill Conservancy and Friends of the River now support AB 142.
The bill will now move to the Senate and be scheduled for hearing in the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water.
