about Amador County’s plan to rezone more than 1,150 acres outside Ione from R1A – Residential/Agricultural to M – Manufacturing without adequate environmental review. While the rezoning is required at some point to make the land consistent with the new general plan, a rezoning of that size, for that kind of intensive use, requires site-specific analysis under state law.
We and neighbors of the land made that case to county officials. The county counsel and outside CEQA counsel agreed that the rezoning needed full California Environmental Quality Act review. On September 11, the county planning commission tabled the project until the project applicant, Edwin Lands, LLC, returns with more details for CEQA analysis.
