Carina Bassin on board to edit and design Focus
Carina Bassin, daughter of local beef rancher and former board member Dan Port, has volunteered to edit and design the Focus newsletter. As a graduate of UC Davis in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology, Carina spent a few years hiking through rainstorms and chasing the bleep of a radio transmitter on a flying squirrel before finding her niche at California Waterfowl as editor. In 2010 she moved back to the family farm in Ione and has been doing freelance and contract work since. The first Focus issue she worked on was Winter 2012, and she quickly learned that squeezing a huge amount of information into a short newsletter is truly an art, and a challenge she’s excited to tackle. You can contact Carina at carina.port@gmail.com.
