Last May, Foothill Conservancy awarded its $1,000 Gordon Miller Memorial Scholarship to graduating Argonaut High School senior Michael Adair of rural Jackson. Michael, the valedictorian of his class, is now attending Santa Clara University, majoring in History and Environmental Science.
In addition to his academic accomplishments at Argonaut, Michael played baseball, participated in school organizations, and took part in community and church events, all while holding down part-time jobs. He is a most promising young man, and we were glad to be able to help him in some small way with his higher education.
The scholarship is given each year in memory of Conservancy founding member Gordon Miller, who was dedicated to Amador County’s history and natural environment.
We welcome your donations to the Gordon Miller Scholarship fund. In the future, we hope to expand our scholarship program to other local high schools.
