Children are among the river's strongest supporters. |
At last July’s Amador County Fair, our booth allowed fair-goers to have their say about protecting the Moke-lumne River. We took photos of a broad range of local residents and fair visitors holding signs speaking up for fishing, hiking, wildflowers, boating, and specific places on the river. The photos portray everyone from young children to a Kit Carson Mountain Man.
This fall, we prepared booklets of the fair photos and presented them to the Amador County Board of Supervisors and the East Bay Municipal Utility District Board of Directors. Among the photos is a shot of Amador County Supervisor Louis Boitano holding a “Get Your Water in the East Bay” sign.
Many fair visitors also signed on to support National Wild and Scenic River designation for the Mokelumne and to protest the proposed expansion of Pardee Reservoir.
Thanks to everyone who helped!
