In October, Foothill Conservancy President Katherine Evatt and Vice-President Pete Bell received two awards for their work on Mokelumne River conservation. The first, awarded at a California Trout-Foothill Conservancy Wild and Scenic Mokelumne celebration in Volcano, was CalTrout’s 2018 Streamkeeper Award, given to Pete and Katherine for their work in securing state Wild and Scenic River designation for the Mokelumne River. The same award was given to our Mokelumne conservation colleague, Steve Evans, who is the Wild Rivers Consultant to Friends of the River and the California Wilderness Coalition.

Later that month, Pete and Katherine joined 42 other “Wild and Scenic Heroes” who were honored at Friends of the River’s California River Awards in San Francisco. Conservancy Director Marta Brady-Johnson and husband Kevin also attended the event.
