On Tuesday, June 6, a wonderful group of musicians organized by performers Laurie Lewis
and Suzie Thompson gave a benefit concert, “River of Song,” for Foothill Conservancy and Friends of the River. The concert at Berkeley’s Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse featured Barbara Higbie
, Thompsonia, The T Sisters, Blame Sally, Jenner Fox
, and Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum
Before the event, Laurie said, “Access to clean water is of utmost importance for all life. Our endangered California rivers deserve all the help we can give them so they can continue to supply that for us, and for all the other forms of life that depend on them. Plus, they are just so beautiful!”
We were thrilled to be included as a beneficiary of this special event! It was a great opportunity to share information about our work for the Mokelumne River with so many East Bay residents who depend on the river for their water.
Special thanks are due to Laurie and Suzie for pulling together the wonderful lineup of talented musicians, to the Freight & Salvage, to all the musicians who participated, and to our East Bay volunteers Alison Brantley, Jim Weigand and Larry Kolb.
