Tom Rozum and Laurie Lewis had the packed audience tapping their feet at "Bluegrass for the Moke"
On October 28, the sweet sounds of modern bluegrass wafted through Mokelumne Hill as musicians Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum
performed a bluegrass concert to benefit our Mokelumne River conservation efforts. “Bluegrass for the Moke” netted nearly $3,000 and everyone had a wonderful time. It was a great community event.
We’d like to thank Laurie and Tom; Bill Easton and Jane O’Riordan of Terre Rouge and Easton Wines who donated proceeds from wine sales; Julia Costello for providing a musicians’ green room; The Sound Guy, Pete Bell, for fine sound engineering; High Sierra Tickets for handling ticket sales; and everyone who sold tickets, bought tickets, and helped at the event.
We’d also like to thank the fine folks in Mokelumne Hill. They helped with the show in immeasurable ways, including providing a last-minute guitar strap for Laurie. Our administrative right-hand-man, Randy Berg, was critical to the event’s success.
Laurie enjoyed the show so much that she’d like to return to Moke Hill in 2012 with her full band, the Right Hands. We hope to schedule a show sometime after the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall renovations are complete.
